Emanuel Almborg and Anya Komar will screen an archival film, Talking Hands (date and director unknown), that documents the 1960s Zagorsk school for deaf-blind children outside Moscow. The screening will be accompanied by a discussion of related research material, including the history and philosophy of Soviet thinker Evald Ilyenkov, cultural-historical psychology, and a recorded dialogue with one of the school’s former students.
The event is organized in conjunction with the Whitney Independent Study Studio Program Exhibition, on view June 9 - June 27, 2015 at EFA Project Space.
