Portfolio in Practice
Tuesday, June 4, 6-8:30 PM
Portfolio in Practice invites AAPI visual artists to receive valuable feedback on their portfolios from leading contemporary curators. The event consists of a brief introduction of the curators and one-on-one sessions made by appointment through online registration, with curators providing close consultation on artist projects. Artists can register for (up to 3) 20-minute sessions with curators. This initiative is intended to promote increased engagement among the Asian American visual arts community, providing critical feedback, and creating opportunities for artists.
Tickets are $25.00 per 20-min session. Please only select one curator to meet with per time slot. Do not purchase more than three time slots. Registrants who violate these restrictions will be refunded and contacted. See more details under ‘Registration’ below.
This year’s curators include:
Howie Chen, Curator, 80WSE Gallery at NYU
Hitomi Iwasaki, Director of Exhibitions + Head Curator, Queens Museum
Jinny Khanduja, Executive Director, CUE Arts
Jasmine Wahi, Founder + Co-Director, Project for Empty Space
Lisa Yin Zhang, Editor, Hyperallergic
Registration: All artists must register in advance. Early registration is recommended as slots fill up quickly. Each session is 20 minutes long. Each artist is allowed to register for a maximum of three sessions and may only register for one session per curator (i.e. multiple tickets may not be purchased for the same curator). The cost per session is $25.00. If you are experiencing a financial barrier, please contact Justine Lee at jlee@aaartsalliance.org and we’ll try our best to accomodate.
