NEW YORK MYCOLOGICAL SOCIETY / SPECULATIVE RESILIENCE RADICAL PRACTICE LIBRARY & ARCHIVE for [move_semantics]
Mixed media, 2019-21.
Originally developed and realized by curator Elæ Moss for the Anarchist Book Fair at Judson Church and Bushwick Open Studios, the [MS]:RU iteration of the Speculative Resilience Radical Practice Library & Archive reimagines the potential for commons holdings across media, in collaboration with allied intelligences from plant and fungi as well as through print documentation / text and other virtual materials.
This archive installation in particular is offered in collaboration with mycelia, invited in here as teacher and holder of critical data as we seek out resilient speculative practices beyond the Capitalocene. The selected fungi specimens on view throughout the lab, in eight vitrines conceived of and realized by Moss, appeared courtesy of a generous loan from Tom Bigelow, current New York Mycological Society chapter president. The tags designed for MSRU which accoLumbermpany the specimens reproduce the Field Data collection protocol for citizen and professional scientists developed for the Fungal Diversity Survey (FUNDIS).
