About

Gabe Seamon (b. Toronto, ON) is a visual artist who works across video, performance, painting, drawing, and sculpture. His interventions typically transform digital video into analog forms in order to explore both ostensibly obsolete techniques for rendering the moving image and untested strategies for the dissemination of time-based media. Initially informed by filming skateboarding, his work functioned as a call-to-action; to move alongside the video screen in search for a revitalized relationship between form and content. Since moving to Philadelphia in 2022 and earning his MFA from the University of Pennsylvania, this search has refined into affective strategies for feeling more from a moving image by reaching beyond its unrelenting acceleration. Drawn to deliberately slowing down through laborious transfers between mediums, Seamon lays out visual tactics that cut through the boundaries of the analog and digital, revealing slow forms that emerge from within images fraught with immediacy and acceleration.
