About

Tairan Hao, a multidisciplinary artist specialized in new media art based in New York, earned his BFA from California College of the Arts and MFA from University of Pennsylvania. His art delves into the intersections of the virtual and real, and the impacts of technology on society. Hao's work—spanning animation, video, sculpture, and interactive installations—explores themes of identity, control, and freedom within the evolving contexts of politics, culture, and technology, encouraging audience participation to shape the narrative. His artwork has been showcased in solo exhibitions at the Beijing Today Art Museum (2017) and group exhibitions at the Qintai Art Museum (Wuhan Biennale 2022), Williamsburg Art and Historical Center, CICA Museum in South Korea, and the Charles Addams Gallery at Penn. He founded TAIRANHAO STUDIO to develop tangible tech-art products and interactive installation projects, holding 20+ new media art related patents.
